Dr. Glen King was raised on a dairy farm in middle Mississippi where dogs, cats, cows and horses were a part of everyday life. He decided to become a veterinarian as a seventh grader standing at the dairy barn at sunrise having a conversation with his brother. He obtained a dairy science degree from Mississippi State before obtaining his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1976. He then practiced small animal medicine in a large small animal practice in Cincinnati, Ohio before accepting a Veterinary Radiology residency at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. During his residency, he also trained at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. After completing his residency, he taught in the radiology section at the LSU College of Veterinary Medicine for 2 years before spending 5 years on the research staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
In 1986 he and his wife founded Veterinary Cancer Associates, the 1st by-referral-only, veterinary radiation oncology practice in Houston, TX. Then, in 1988 with a surgeon and internist, they founded Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston where he practiced for the next 22 years. In 2010 he moved to Dallas to Veterinary Specialist of North Texas (VSNT). In 2015 with Dr. Derek Burney, they purchased VSNT and Dr. King continues to help grow this dynamic veterinary specialty practice.
Dr. King presently serves as both the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and the Chief of Business Development (CBD) at VSNT.
