Sara Allstadt, DVM

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine
Oncology

Dr. Sara D. Allstadt became a veterinary oncologist because it allowed her to incorporate her love for animals with a career that makes a difference. She completed both her undergraduate and DVM training at Auburn University, graduating in 2002 with her DVM. Dr. Allstadt started her career as a general practice veterinarian before making a career switch to specialty medicine. She completed her internship at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Maitland, Florida and her specialty internship in oncology at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA. Her residency in oncology took her cross-country to the University of California-Davis and she is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Oncology.

During her career, she has been an assistant professor of oncology at the University of California-Davis and at the University of Tennessee, which has allowed her to publish over 30 scientific articles, proceedings, and book chapters on a wide variety of cancer topics. She has also played a role in the training of 7 residents, numerous interns, and thousands of students. She is active with the Veterinary Cancer Society and the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Off duty, Dr. Allstadt is an SEC football fan (War Eagle!) and enjoys competing on her American Quarter Horses.
